Oral history interview with Oscar Houser, Jr., 1992 February 23.

Interview with Oscar Houser, an Army veteran and anethetist, concerning his experiences as an Army nurse in Vietnam from 1972 to 1973. Houser discusses his decision to enter nurse training and the military, anesthesia school at William Beaumont Medical Center in 1972, attitudes toward the Vietnam War, his assignment to the 95th Evacuation Hospital on China Beach in Vietnam, camp living conditions, work at Da Nang and Pleiku, treatment of battle casualties, his work with Montagnards, his work with Vietnamese medical personnel, social life and recreational activities, morale and drug problems, personal relationships among camp personnel, communications with home, his decision to stay in the military, and the effect of the Vietnam experience on his later life.
